奶酥菠蘿麵包 Pineapple buns with cream filling

2019年社大水彩課義賣,我畫了一張明信片大小的菠蘿麵包,受到非常多讚賞,並且一下就賣出去了。那張菠蘿麵包的紋路與光澤,我自己十分喜愛;首次個展沒辦法展出,覺得很可惜,因此又畫了一張。

不過對於「重複」這件事,一直都有深深的排斥:不喜日復一日的單調上班生活、不能每餐都吃飯、不能有兩件同款不同色的衣服…不喜歡模仿別人的畫,也不喜歡重複畫一樣的東西。人生充滿變化,才有樂趣嘛!因此第二張菠蘿麵包,我找了有包餡的(而且是我最愛的奶酥餡)作為主題。

這次使用原來那張尺寸4倍大(16開)、吸水性特佳的Arches水彩紙畫,能夠將更多麵包酥皮上的質地與紋理表現出來,因此成品比原先的細緻許多;最常收到的評語就是「好想咬一口啊!」這可真是對我這美食畫家最棒的讚美了!

In the 2019 I painted a postcard-sized pineapple bun for a charity sale, it was highly appreciated and sold immediately. I liked the texture and luster of that pineapple bread very much; so I felt it was a pity that I couldn’t show it in my first solo exhibition. Therefore, I painted another one.

However, I has a deep rejection of “repetition”. For example, I don’t like the monotonous work life day after day, I can’t eat same food in two meals, I can’t have two clothes of the same style but different colors, etc. I don’t like to imitate others. Likewise, I don’t like to draw the same thing over and over again. Life is full of changes so it is fun! So for the second pineapple bun, I found stuffed (and my favorite cream filling) as the theme.

This time, I used the 16K Arches watercolor paper, which is 4 times bigger than the last one. Because of its excellent water absorption, I can express more texture and grain on the bread crust. Thus, the finished product is much more detailed than the original one. The comments I received most often was “I really want to take a bite!” This is really the best compliment for me as a food artist!
